European cities favoured for bank holiday weekend

European cities are a favourite choice amongst British travellers for the August bank holiday weekend, according to a data analyst.

TravelClick has used its data to reveal that Rome has a 42.2% rise in occupancy from 27-29 August, while Barcelona has also seen an 18.2% increase in occupancy. Meanwhile Berlin and Prague are expected to be 5.1% and 4.9% full while London’s has dropped 10.9%. However it is Paris that has seen the highest jump, by 53%, despite a 56.4% surge in the average daily rate. “It seems that travellers are choosing European destinations other than London for their last summer holiday,” said Jan Tissera, president of TravelClick International. “In the meantime, London hoteliers are benefitting from the upcoming Fashion Week, September 16-21, with committed occupancy for that period up 9.1% year-over-year and average daily rate (ADR) is up 21.2% year-over-year.”
